A fine large example of a oyster veneered kingwood coffre fort with unusual pierced brass mounts. The fall front opens to reveal two drawers and has hidden compartments. This type of strong box was used by the traveller and has a screw system to fasten it to the floor of your coach or the the floor of the room you stayed in.
Circa 1700
This coffre has the beautiful mounts and we have seen very few of this design in the last 40 years.
