Cox, London; Cox Terrestrial Globe; J.S. Cox

James Cox,(worked 1811-1857) London was one of the many traders who bought Lane’s 6.9 cm-globes with blank vignettes and resold them as “Cox London 1812.” In the 1830s, 3- and 5-inch globes signed as “Cox Terrestrial Globe 2nd Edition 1836 and Celestial Globe by J.S. Cox” appeared on the market, but they were most likely not identical with Lane’s globe, which was first published in 1790.
